Why every kiter needs a Big Mac

March, 2014   //   by Chase Hasch

Just to set things right from the start – I mean a “Big Mac” not a “Big Mc”.

As in Apples are better for you compared to burgers made with ethoxylated monoglycerides and propylene glycol alginate, plus 73 other ingredients that probably won’t grow on a tree or come from a cow.

And really you won’t even need a “Big Mac” just a little Mac is fine too.

Anyway, while being on Maui – yes that place where I had almost zero wind for weeks and normally is one of the most consistent wind locations in the world, we took a few pics. As usual when taking pics at the Pro Pool at Kanaha Beach in the late afternoon we found ourselves shooting against the sun.

After downloading the pics from the camera onto a Mac we opened them in “Preview”. Preview being “Preview” and being build by creative people it lets you adjust the colors on the fly without having any mad skills (such as needed for Photoshop). Above are two pics with adjustments that took seconds.

Almost like it was taken on a different day. Pretty cool! The two big take-aways are:
1) Don’t trust the weather on the web.
2) It’s always sunny if you own a Mac.

Note: Yes I know “you” can adjust colors better – this is not a Photoshop or Preview Tutorial Contest! Relax.

And no – I am not trying to tell you how to run your life, but just in case you wonder – nobody in my family even bothers using iPhoto which tries opening all your pics on a Mac by default unless you tell it to shut up or remove it all together from your Mac. Use Adobe Bridge if you truly manage a ton of pics. But for fast access just read your pics directly of your card. Crank up your thumbnail size in your folder view settings and you are set. Enjoy!
