Wave Sesh in Jupiter, Florida

April, 2013   //   by Chase Hasch

As we tend to do it we gotto Jupiter at around 3am in the morning – we do try to cross big cities like Miami during the night. When I woke up we started driving down A1A looking for the best spot to kite. We ended up choosing Carlin Park. I went to the beach, rigged up and was on the water by about 9am. I was using my 9 meter Chaos and a 5’7 S Quad (Strapless)

I played around in the waves until I saw what looked like a few Cabrinha kites upwind at “kite beach” (Beach Access #33). So I decided to do a upwinder. About 20 minutes I arrived hoping to meet up with other Cabrinha riders. Jupiter does seem a bit of a “hot spot” with lots of Cabrinha talent around.

I tend to ride with Boots most of the time (aka Wakestyle), but after spending some time with the S Quad I got slightly decent at getting bigger air without having the board fall off my feet. I truly enjoyed myself just playing around in the waves all by myself with no one watching and no need to impress anyone.

At around 1:30 more kites and another 2013 Cabrinha kite showed up. As some of you may know getting a kiters attention is rather difficult on the water but eventually we met up at the beach and I introduced myself as it turned out it was no other than Cabrinha rider Matt Collins.

Matt really inpressed me with his strapless skills such as 360 shove its. I talked to him about his thoughts on twin tips and he told me he hasn’t used one in a few years. After a quick chat we went back on the water I had already been on the water for about 4 hours and after another two with Matt I was pretty tired.

Jupiter really inspired me to take my strapless kiting to the next level.
